Na semana passada foi a Induction Week para o Semestre C. Nos documentos que se seguem conseguem ter uma percepção do que se passa no campus.

Durante a semana de indução, também existam várias atividades para os novos alunos terem a oportunidade de se conhecerem melhor, como a 'city tour' e a 'ice breaker party'.

Scholarships in IMI

Library

Existem dois tipos diferentes de Bolsas de Estudo:

- Bolsas Académicas e de Mérito, que só depois dos estudos serão dadas aos alunos que excederam expectativas em certas áreas.

- Bolsas de Estudo que são atribuídas enquanto frequentas a IMI.

Todos os Semestres A e C existem Bolsas de Estudo disponíveis na IMI durante o teu período de estudos, mas estas são mediante candidatura como descrito no exemplo no final do post. 

Estas Bolsas de Estudo são atribuídas consoante experiência profissional, perfil pessoal, cursos que os candidatos frequentam e na fase final, entrevista.

São diferentes de algumas escolas pois são em termos de contribuição para a comunidade escolar.

Events

Existem vários tipos de Bolsas de Estudo: 

        - Biblioteca

        - Cozinha
        - Cantina
        - Eventos

        - Fotografia
        - entre outras...

Todas estas Bolsas têm compensação monetária no final de completar o período de trabalho. O valor varia bastante consoante a Bolsas a que te candidatares.

Kitchen

There are two different types of scholarships:

- Scholarships and Prestige Awards, only after the studies they will be given to the students who have exceeded expectations in certain areas.

- Scholarships that are awarded while studying at IMI. 

All Semesters A and C there are scholarships available at IMI during your study period, but these are given considering students applications as described in the example at the end of the post.

These Scholarships are awarded depending on experience, personal profile, candidates courses and in the final stage, interview.

They are different from certain schools since they are in terms of contribution to the school community. 

There are several types of scholarships:

         - Dining Hall

         - Events

         - Photography

         - Among others ...

All these Scholarships have monetary compensation at the end of the work period. The amount varies widely depending on the one that you apply.

PORTUGUESES NA IMI

O Summer Ball este ano teve lugar no Hotel Schweizerhof em Luzern, realizou-se no dia 05 de Junho de 2013.

The Summer Ball this year took place at the Hotel Schweizerhof in Luzern, and it was held on the 5th of June, 2013.

PA MARKS

PA Marks ou Personal Attitude Marks é um sistema que a escola tem para atribuir ou retirar pontos consoante cinco categorias diferentes:

Students on Dutie

Aparência

Estudante Quartos

Deveres

Comportamento e Disciplina

Contribuição comunitária

Todas as categorias tem um valor original de 20 Marks, o que perfaz um total de 80 por estudante. Este valor é o mínimo que tens de ter para a graduação, se não acontecer os teus maus resultados iram aparecer no teu certificado.

Para ganhar PA Marks existem várias que podes fazer coisas:

Serviços na cantina

A arrumação do teu quarto

Ajudar a escola sempre que eles necessitam

Participar em eventos da escola como voluntário

Entre outras...

Se fores um dos estudantes com o número mais elevado de PA Marks, no final do ano poderás receber uma das bolsas de estudo existentes na escola. Este ano o aluno que possui mais PA Mark até ao momento é o Tanvir Khan com 692 Marks. Grande parte deste valor foi ganho por serviços na cantina.

All categories has an original value of 20 marks, which makes a total of 80 per student. This value is the minimum you need to have for graduation, if it is lower your bad results will show on your certificate.
To earn Marks PA there are several things you can do:

Services in the canteen

Tidiness of your room

Help the school whenever they need

Participate in school events as a volunteer

If you are one of the students with the highest number of PA Marks, at the end of the year you may receive one of the scholarships available in school. This year the student who has the most PA Mark so far is Tanvir Khan with 692 marks. The majority of this amount was earned by doing service in the dining hall.

Kempinski Career Day

"Kempinski Career Day" é realizado todos os anos em Munique, Alemanha. As inscrições são feitas online pelos interessados no qual tens de referir todo o teu perfil profissional. Após envio de carta de apresentação e CV, no local no evento saberás se foste seleccionado para uma entrevista fixa. Caso isso não aconteça, terás a chance de falar com qualquer General Manager que desejares e melhorar a tua rede de contactos ou até conseguir uma posição.

Como todos os anos a IMI esteve presente no evento. Partiram dois autocarros de alunos do campus e demorou aproximadamente 5 horas para chegar ao nosso destino. A escola providenciou um pequeno saco com comida para a viagem, mas nada muito complexo, pois no evento teríamos a possibilidade degustar alguns produtos fornecidos pela Kempinski.

À chegada muitos dos alunos sentiram-se um pouco desconfortáveis pois repararam na quantidade de candidatos no recinto e na estrutura onde as entrevistas eram realizadas. Desde o momento em que é feito o check-in, existe a possibilidade de participares em algumas apresentações dos diversos departamentos da empresa. Ao todo podes ver 4 General Managers, mas o tempo de espera pode ser um pouco extenso, devido à afluência de candidatos. Devido a esse facto, o meu conselho é: dependendo dos benefícios que queiras retirar do evento escolhes o melhor caminho a tomar, pois se gostares mesmo de falar com um determinado GM o tempo de espera pode rondar 1h ou mais. Deste modo quanto mais tempo perdes na apresentações, menos tempo tens para entrevistas. As entradas para candidatos externos começa às 14h progredindo de 30 em 30 minutos, por isso gere bem o teu tempo, pois o autocarro partirá por volta das 18h.

Ao aproximarmos-nos do final do evento, colaboradores do evento distribuem "merchandises" relativas à Kempinski, desde canecas, canetas, bloco de notas, entre outros. Embora alguns alunos acharam que ir ao Kempinski Career Day fosse uma perda de tempo, em geral a reacção foi bastante positiva, devido ao facto de poderem praticar as suas capacidades de entrevista e aumentar a sua network.

"Kempinski Career Day" is held each year in Munich, Germany. Applications are made online by interested parties in which you have to mention all your professional profile. After sending cover letter and CV, at the event you will know if you were selected for a fixed interview. If not, you will have the chance to speak to any General Manager, improve your network or even get a position.

As every year, IMI was present at the event. Two buses of students left campus and took approximately 5 hours to reach destination. The school provided a small bag with food for the journey, but nothing very complex, because in the event we would have the chance to taste some products supplied by Kempinski.

Upon arrival, many of the students felt slightly uncomfortable when noticed the number of candidates in the room and the structure where the interviews were conducted. From the moment you check in, it is possible to take part in some presentations of the various departments of the company. Altogether you can see 4 General Managers, but the waiting time can be a bit long, because of the influx of applicants. Due to this fact, my advice is: depending on the benefits you want to take out of the event you will choose the best path to take, if you really would like to talk to a particular GM, the waiting time may be around 1 hour or more. Thus the longer time you lose in the presentations, less time you will have for interviews. The admissions for external candidates starts at 14h progressing from 30 to 30 minutes, so manage your time well, because the bus will depart at around 18h.

When approaching towards the end of the event, the employees distributed "merchandises" from Kempinski, like mugs, pens, notepads, among others. Although some students found that going to Kempinski Career Day was a loss of time, in general the reaction was very positive, due to the fact that they could perform their ability to interview and increase their network.

Fasnacht 2013

Fasnacht ou Carnaval é o maior evento da cidade de Luzern a realizar-se anualmente.

"Fritschi-Fasnacht" em Lucerna começou durante a Idade Média e é baseado nas tradições do "Fritschi" Guild. O Carnaval começa sempre com a chegada da Família Fritschi em "schmutziger Donnerstag" ("sujo quinta-feira"). Quinta-feira "Suja" é uma festa católica, este dia é dedicado a comer. Onde as pessoas se encontram e comem grandes quantidades de doces, bolos e refeições com alto teor de gordura, que são proibidas durante a Quaresma. "As raízes da tradição são disputadas: algumas pessoas afirmam que remonta a uma mistura de festivais pagãos da primavera e rituais cristãos. Em alguns cantões, o carnaval é baseado em tradições pagãs de usar máscaras assustadoras para espantar os maus espíritos." . (sorce: http://www.swissworld.org).

O Carnaval começa na Quinta-feira às 5h da manhã. Alguns dos alunos mais corajosos da IMI foram à abertura embora tivessem que voltar cedo para as aulas da manhã. De entre os alunos com quem falei, a maior parte deles adoraram abertura, apesar do frio e da neve.
Durante todo o período do Fasnacht as aulas decorreram como normal até ao fecho na Terça-feira à noite. Muitos dos alunos gostariam de que a escola tivesse tido uma maior abertura em termos de horários, não só por ser uma data única para estar em Luzern, mas também para conhecer um pouco mais da cultura Suiça. Nos dias com mais movimento (Segunda-feira e Terça-feira) a maioria dos alunos não conseguiu presenciar a parada mais importante do período carnavalesco.

O ambiente no centro da cidade é surreal, desde as mascaras que são extremamente originais, até à música, onde diversas bandas tocam musicas de Carnaval com todo o tipo de instrumentos. Para mim aqueles que mais me surpreenderam, foram os de percussão, cordas e sopro.

Mesmo não estudando na IMI, aconselho a todos a virem a Luzern, embora seja um pouco mais recatado que no Rio de Janeiro, não deixa de ser bastante interessante.

Fasnacht or Carnival is the biggest event in the city of Luzern to be held annually.

"Fritschi-Fasnacht" in Lucerne has started during the Middle Age and is based on the traditions of the "Fritschi" Guild. The Carnival always begins with the arrival of the Fritschi Family on "schmutziger Donnerstag" ("dirty Thursday"). Dirty Thursday is a Catholic feast, this day is dedicated to eating. Where people meet and eat large quantities of sweets, cakes and  meals with high fat content, that are forbidden during the Lent.  "The roots of the tradition are disputed: some people claim it goes back to a mixture of pagan spring festivals and Christian rites. In some cantons, carnival is based on pagan traditions of using fearsome masks to chase away evil spirits". (source: http://www.swissworld.org).

The Carnival started on Thursday at 5am, some of the braver students of IMI went to the opening but had to return earlier due to the morning classes. Among the students I spoke with, most of them were amazed by the opening, despite of the cold and the snow.

Throughout the period of Fasnacht classes were held as normal until the closure on Tuesday evening. Many of the students found that the school could have had a more openness in terms of hours, not only for being an important date to be in Luzern, but also to learn a little more about Switzerland's culture. On days with more movement (Monday and Tuesday) most students failed to witness the parade, of the most important period during the carnival.

The atmosphere in the city center was surreal, from the masks that were highly original, to the music, where different bands played Carnival songs with all kinds of instruments. Those that surprised me the most were the instruments of percussion, strings and wind. In spite of not studying at IMI, I strongly advise everyone to come to Luzern, although it is slightly quieter than in Rio de Janeiro, it is still extremely interesting.
